CAIS has just received a federal grant that was available to charter schools specifically for expansion. With this grant money, CAIS is expanding next year to have a full middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12). This is very exciting news!
CAIS Middle School Expansion (grades 6-8)
- Our vision for the middle school is for learning to be through design, exploration and inquiry. This project-based learning approach will help capture student passion for learning as they experience a completely different approach to traditional school. Students will have access to new technology and equipment that will expand the classroom to include 3D modeling & printing, basic machining & welding, as well as fabrication and design. These 21st Century skills will not only prepare middle school students for CAIS High School, but they will increase student engagement and excitement for learning.
CAIS High School Expansion (Grades 9-12)
- CAIS High School will also expand and benefit from this grant. Beginning in 2019-20 school year, all CAIS high school students will be provided with a laptop for digital learning. The current shop spaces will be expanded with more tools and technology to increase capacity in career technical education programs. A new makerspace will add more creative workspace where students can design and collaborate. Students will experience more hands-on learning and new courses are being developed to provide even greater opportunities for students to learn 21st Century skills that will ensure that CAIS graduates enhance the regional economy by providing a career-ready, highly skilled, diverse and adaptable workforce.
