Graduation Requirements


The Clackamas Academy of Industrial Sciences Board will establish requirements for graduation. Students are required to earn 26 credits and meet essential skills requirements and personalized learning activities to graduate with a standard Clackamas Academy of Industrial Sciences diploma.

A student may satisfy graduation requirements in less than four years. The CAIS board will award a diploma to a student fulfilling graduation requirements in less than four years upon the student following the early graduation application and procedure.

1. Credit Hours and Additional Requirements

a. Students shall earn 26.0 credits to receive a diploma from Clackamas Academy of Industrial Sciences. Students earn a .5 credit for each successfully completed trimester course.

2. Credit requirements per year shall be as follows:

Personalized Learning
Education Plan and Profile Develop an education plan and build an education profile to guide learning toward a student’s personal, career, and post-high school goals.
Career-Related Learning Experiences Participate in experiences that connect classroom learning with real life experiences in the workplace, community, and/or school, relevant to student’s education plan.
Extended Application Apply and extend knowledge and skills in new and complex situations related to the student’s personal and career interests and post-high school plans.

*Individuals may be excused from participation in physical education (PE) for .5 credit of the 1.0 credits required for graduation through the participation in an OSAA-sponsored athletic program or a program of study waiver. Such excused students will be required to substitute the .5 credits with an elective course.

**Individuals can use internship/work experience for no more than 1.5 of the total 8 elective credits required for graduation. Individuals can earn .5 credits for approved work experience. Individuals can earn up to 1.5 credits for administration approved internship experiences.
