Rebecca Miller – TEACHER
A native New Yorker, Rebecca Miller taught in Georgia before her recent move to Oregon last June. Before entering the education field, Rebecca spent more than 10 years working in various research settings, including genetics, evolution, development, oncology, and marine biology. While teaching at the university level, she recognized a need to bring higher level scientific teaching and experiences into the high school classroom environment. As said by the famous astronomer Carl Sagan, “We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology,” Rebecca’s goal is to work towards reversing this trend in American science education. When not working towards this goal, she enjoys spending time with her husband and cat, hiking outdoors, testing her culinary limits, and finding time for video games in between.
